Laredo Slaps 7-1 Loss on West Island
|
The Laredo Border Jumpers downed the West Island Storm, 7-1, at Hot Box. Stellar pitching by Jon Gilmore had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who finished 5th in the AP in wins with 18 in 2070, handcuffed his opponent all game. The loss makes the Storm 11-22.
Laredo designated hitter Tom Miller contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 21st hit of the season and put the Border Jumpers ahead, 4-1.
"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said West Island manager Matthew Tietz.
