Mexico City starter Pedro Gómez pitched well against the Death Valley Burn at Corona Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Leroy Welch nailed down the save. Today's win puts Mexico City at 18-19, while Death Valley falls to 17-17.

In the bottom of the 5th, Mexico City took the lead on a 2-run single by Francisco Olivares. At the time, the Diablos were trailing 3-2, but Olivares's hit with two outs against Death Valley pitcher Juan Jose Díaz put them in front, 4-3.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Olivares said.
