With Late Score, Railbirds Beat Mashers
|
In a tight contest between the Reading Railbirds and the Crab Apple Cove Mashers, Carlos Caro was the determining factor. The Reading right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-1 win. Reading pitcher Felipe Estrada earned the win, hiking his record to 2-3. Ernesto Amézaga suffered the loss. Héctor Rodríguez recorded his 6th save for Reading.
Reading took a 2-1 lead on Melvin Miller's 5th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Miller hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Crab Apple Cove pitcher Ernesto Amézaga visibly frustrated.
"I take a professional approach to my job," said Caro. "I've been around this game for a while."
Reading is now 17-18, Crab Apple Cove 14-23.
