Monuments Beat Atlantic City, 3-2
|
Washington beat Atlantic City on the strength of starter George Skinner's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. Washington reliever Brandon Holcomb picked up the win, raising his record to 2-2. Pedro Solíz was tagged with the loss. The save was credited to Matt Burkett, his 2nd.
Washington used the clutch hitting of Leslie Small to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Monuments ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Atlantic City manager Chris Stephan.
The Monuments now own a record of 32-41.
