Both teams had their chances, but the Reading Railbirds eventually prevailed.
Reading beat Laredo on the strength of starter Adrián Jiménez's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. The winner was Reading reliever Fernando Franco, now 1-2. The loser was John Weaver.
Reading used a well-timed hit by William Cole to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Railbirds ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Reading manager Slam Dunks.
The Railbirds, now 6-2, have been playing some good baseball.
