Amarillo pitcher Peyton Jones did his part in helping his team beat the West Island Storm, 6-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The last-place Storm dropped to 30-45.

Amarillo designated hitter Brad Coleman contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a splitter to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 79th hit of the season and put the Chicken Haulers ahead, 3-0.

"I thought Peyton threw the ball well across the board," said Amarillo manager James Walker.
