Lake Monsters Prevail, 5-3, Over Minneapolis
|
Starting pitcher Joe Charles pitched well enough to help the Vermont Lake Monsters beat the Minneapolis Maulers, 5-3. Earning his 17th save of the year was Chris Thomas. Vermont is now 33-43, while Minneapolis is 35-39.
The Lake Monsters got a big at-bat from designated hitter Roger Hoover. For the game, Hoover went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 13th double of the season gave Vermont a 2-1 lead.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Charles.
