Comrades Popped by Cheesesteaks, 6-3
|
Philadelphia took on Havana in front of a lively crowd.
The Philadelphia Cheesesteaks locked up a win at William Penn Park, knocking off the Havana Comrades, 6-3. On the mound for Philadelphia was right-hander Ken Barnett. He played a major role in the triumph. Barnett got the win, improving to 9-4. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run.
Chris Hall had a big 2-run home run for the Cheesesteaks in the bottom of the third inning. With Philadelphia leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a cutter from José Zavala, who is a two-time All-Star, and punished it. The result was his 12th home run of the season, which put the Cheesesteaks on top, 4-0.
After the game, Philadelphia manager Joey Santangelo applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
The Comrades, at 36-38, have lost 5 in a row.
