Washington Monuments starter Walter Hughes hurled his team past the Newark Falcons, 4-2. Hughes, now 7-5, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Picking up the save was César Domínguez. He's now 13 for 14 in save chances.
Tom Quinn, who is tied for 6th in the AP in RBI with 53, had a direct impact on the outcome. Quinn contributed a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put Washington up, 3-0.
