Olivares Smashes 400th Homer
|
It was a historic day for Mexico City's fine first baseman Francisco Olivares. He slammed home run number 400 in the Diablos 5-4 loss to the Alcatraz Island Jail Break at The Rock.
He told reporters after the game that he was disappointed in losing the game. "It's great to get that many homers, but I don't play for homers -- I play to win. That's the name of the game."
In his milestone-making game Olivares went 2 for 4, scored 2 runs and collected 2 runs batted in. That home run put him in a select group of ballplayers.
Olivares has a lifetime .293 average and .368 on-base percentage in his career with 1886 hits, 444 doubles, 12 triples, 401 home runs, 1241 RBIs and 1005 runs scored.
