Vermont Lake Monsters starter Tomás González was in fine form against the West Island Storm at Welsh Field, leading his team to a win, 4-3. González picked up the win for Vermont, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 7-2. Iván Ruíz finished to wrap up his 15th save.
The Lake Monsters got a big at-bat from center fielder Carlos Delgado. For the game, Delgado went 2 for 5 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 16th double of the season gave Vermont a 4-3 lead.
"It's a mindset," said Delgado. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
The Lake Monsters have an impressive 46-28 record.
