Falcons Squelch Maulers Offense in Shutout Win
|
Newark took on Minneapolis in front of a lively crowd.
In a low-scoring affair between the Newark Falcons and the Minneapolis Maulers, pitcher Josh Jones was the difference between victory and defeat. The Newark right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-0 Falcons win. Rob Heath earned save number 17 this season.
Peter Norman took Minneapolis hurler Mike Kern deep in the bottom of the fifth. His solo home run put the Falcons on top, 1-0. In all, Norman had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"It's still just a game," said Norman, "whether you win or lose."
The Falcons now have a record of 36-39 with the win over Minneapolis.
