Late Rally Earns Keg Creek 4-1 Win
|
Keg Creek pitcher Dave Combs had a large part in his team subduing the Vermont Lake Monsters, 4-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. José Féliz claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record stands at 3-0. The Coyotes saw their win-loss record go to 37-40. At the same time, the Lake Monsters fell to 28-49.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman José Gil came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Vermont pitcher Javier García, he hit a 1-0 knuckleball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Keg Creek on top, 2-1.
Afterward, Coyotes manager said, "We had some good at-bats, some big at-bats in some key situations."
