Boyd Mercer, who is tied for 10th in the FR with a 1.15 WHIP, was terrific for the San Jose Cuervo in his team's 4-0 triumph over the Redstone Ridge Raptors. His performance earned Mercer rave reviews. Iván Ruíz was credited with the save for San Jose, his 17th of the season. With the win, San Jose raised its record to 44-34.

San Jose used a clutch at-bat from Roberto Mateo to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Cuervo ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Mercer.
