Cheesesteaks Win at Home, 5-2
|
Starting pitcher Doug Benson was a major factor in the 5-2 Philadelphia Cheesesteaks triumph over the Reading Railbirds. Tomás Quintero was credited with the save, his 5th in 6 tries. The win lifted the Philadelphia record to 47-32.
Steve Baker had a big 2-run double for the Cheesesteaks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Philadelphia leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Connor Kelloway, who finished 2nd in the FR in ERA with 2.74 in 2068, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 18th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cheesesteaks ahead, 4-1.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Philadelphia manager Joey Santangelo. "It's usually not just one thing."
