José Méndez never let the Crop Circles get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Railbirds to a win, 5-1. Méndez went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 4, and struck out 11. His record improves to 3-6. Dustin Roemer locked down his 1st save.

Reading used the clutch hitting of Alex Peddle to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Railbirds ahead, 5-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.

"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Méndez.

The losing streak for Iowa has now reached 6 games.
