Bearers Spill Burn, 5-1

The Death Valley Burn and St. Paul Bearers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The St. Paul Bearers topped the Death Valley Burn, 5-1, with right fielder Luis Ortíz playing a big role. Ortíz was 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Bearers in the win. Bob McKinney notched his 2nd save in 6 chances.
St. Paul used the clutch hitting of Kyle Gaines to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bearers ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I really like what we did out there today," Gaines said after the game.
The Bearers raised their record to 36-45.
