Losing Trend Continues for Iowa
|
The Redstone Ridge Raptors dealt the Iowa Crop Circles a 4-2 loss at The Cornfield. Kyle Gaines, who finished 5th in the FR in home runs with 38 in 2071, was the star on offense. He went 3-4 with 2 home runs. David Flint was credited with the save for Redstone, his 22nd of the season. Redstone leads the Frontier Southern by 7½ games.
Redstone used a timely hit from Rod Malone to get the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Ridge Raptors ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
Malone called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
