The Washington Monuments took West Island pitcher Tad Hughes's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Hot Box. The final score had Washington getting past the Storm, 3-2. Hughes went 8.2 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 6. George Skinner, the winner, improved to 8-1. He held the Storm to 2 runs on 3 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 4. Washington is now 54-27, 4½ games up in the Appalachian Coastal.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, Kurt Barras was at the plate when Washington scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Monuments to go in front, 3-2.

Barras called the win "a collective effort."
