Cuervo Score Late, Top Revolution, 6-5
|
The Boston Revolution got a superb performance from designated hitter Stanley Bates. Still, it wasn't enough to beat San Jose. The Cuervo won the game, 6-5. Bates was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. José Ramírez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 8 save opportunities. San Jose now has a 4-game win streak.
San Jose used the timely hitting of Derrick Thomas to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cuervo on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Thomas said after the game.
