The Washington Monuments picked up a win at The Grand Lodge, knocking off the Keg Creek Coyotes, 5-1. Starting pitcher Steve Hankins played a key role in the triumph. Their 38-46 record puts the Monuments last in the Appalachian Coastal.

The game could have flipped with one out in the top of the seventh. But Steve Hankins made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 3rd and Keg Creek trailing 4-1, Hankins threw a curveball to Alex Morrow and Morrow struck out.
