Reading pitcher José Méndez had a large part in his team subduing the Iowa Crop Circles, 2-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Méndez, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Ed Leibnitz, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
