Mashers Fall Short, 4-3, at Laredo
|
BackWet Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Laredo Border Jumpers and Crab Apple Cove Mashers.
Laredo second baseman Rafael Taváres made his presence felt in the 4-3 Border Jumpers triumph over the Crab Apple Cove Mashers. Taváres went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The victory puts Laredo at 35-51.
The Border Jumpers got a big at-bat from center fielder Pablo Romero. For the game, Romero was 2-3 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 14th double of the season gave Laredo a 4-3 lead.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Romero told a Laredo Herald reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
