Escamilla Hits 2 home runs in Bearers Win
|
The 7-5 St. Paul win over Reading was due largely to Gary Escamilla. The Bearers first baseman hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. John Wilson picked up the win, improving his season record to 9-6. He struck out 6 in 5.1 innings. The Bearers now own a record of 43-47.
With St. Paul leading 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Escamilla came up to bat against Reading pitcher Martín Burgos. Escamilla hit a knuckleball to left for a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season put the Bearers on top, 7-0.
"We take it day by day here," said Escamilla, "and today was a good one for us."
