The Minneapolis Maulers defeated the West Island Storm, 4-2. Doing his part was catcher Bart Matthews, who was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. George McCreehy, now 1-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 5.1 innings. Picking up the save was Victor Shelton, his 1st.

Minneapolis grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Matthews hit a 3-run home run off Alfredo Careno. His 1st home run of the season put the Maulers out in front, 4-1.

"It's a long season," said Matthews. "We'll keep working to improve."
