Ice Pirates Beaten By Mashers, 7-1

The home crowd had a good time watching the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates and Crab Apple Cove Mashers get after it.
Crab Apple Cove turned a fine outing from starter Erik Courtney into a victory over the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates at Vargas Field. The final score was 7-1. In 7 innings, Courtney surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run.
Crab Apple Cove center fielder Miguel Ramírez contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a sinker to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 86th hit of the season and put the Mashers ahead, 2-0.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Mashers manager , "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
With the win, Crab Apple Cove upped its record to 57-33.
