Burn Claim Late Win
The Death Valley Burn besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Philadelphia center fielder Steve Baker by beating the Cheesesteaks, 8-6, at William Penn Park. Baker was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Death Valley reliever Eric Bennett picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Vincent Dickey absorbed the loss. The losing streak for Philadelphia has now reached 4 games.

Death Valley used the timely hitting of Mark Hancock to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Burn on top, 8-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Death Valley manager .
