Ward Hits Two Homers in 10-4 Win for Minneapolis
The Minneapolis Maulers defeated the Amarillo Chicken Haulers, 10-4, in Appalachian action at The Chicken Coop. Eric Ward pulled his weight. The 12-year veteran hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was Mike Kern, who threw 91 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits. Minneapolis has now won 3 in a row.

Juan Jose López had a big 2-run home run for the Maulers in the top of the fourth inning. With Minneapolis leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 34-year old right-handed pitcher Bill Roberts and punished it. The result was his 19th home run of the season, which put the Maulers on top, 5-2.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Amarillo manager James Walker. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
