The St. Paul Bearers, behind a great outing from Roberto Delgado, who is tied for 7th in the FR with a 1.13 WHIP, defeated the Reading Railbirds, 3-1, at Casket County Stadium. The winning pitcher was Delgado, now 7-4. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. The St. Paul win streak is now 3 games.
In the top of the ninth, Sherman Petersen stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Railbirds were trailing 3-1, but had the bases loaded. That's when Erik Watson made a terrific pitch and Petersen popped out. Gone was the dream of a Reading comeback.
