Falcons Outmuscle Washington, 9-8
|
Washington got a terrific game from left fielder Gilberto Amador. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Newark, 9-8. Amador went 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. Newark has won 4 consecutive games.
Lorenzo Peña was 1-3 with a walk for Newark. The 29-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring single off Terry Pinnell. It was his 49th hit of the season.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Newark manager Brandon T.
