Alexander Magee brought his A-game to help Death Valley defeat the Iowa Crop Circles, 4-1. John Gates earned the save for Death Valley, his 1st of the year. The Burn, now 8-2, have had a terrific start to the season.
The Burn got a big at-bat from center fielder Howard Boyer. For the game, Boyer went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Death Valley a 4-0 lead.
"We did a lot of things right," said Boyer.
