No-Hitter for Alvarado
Ramón Alvarado relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Minneapolis hitless in a 7-0 win at Hot Box today.

"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Maulers off balance and guessing the whole game."

The 31-year-old starter rung up 13 strikeouts and 5 walks in whipping the Maulers.

"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Minneapolis skipper Marty Marty Boeck said.

This season Alvarado has worked 33 innings with 47 strikeouts en route to a 4-1 record and a 3.55 ERA.
