|
In a low-scoring affair between the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates and the Redstone Ridge Raptors, pitcher Ron Collins was the difference between victory and defeat. The Glacier Bay right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 1-0 Ice Pirates win. Glacier Bay reliever Jonathan Bower was the winner. His record is now 6-1. The losing pitcher was Victor Jones. The victory gives Glacier Bay a record of 59-36.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Glacier Bay third baseman Yun-qi Sun, facing Victor Jones, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Ice Pirates the 1-0 win.
"To become 'battle-tested,'" said Collins, "you need to compete in this kind of contest."
