Launch Drop to .500 After 5-4 Loss to Rum Runners
|
Rum Runners third baseman Thomas Perkins left his mark on his team's 5-4 win over the Cape Canaveral Launch. Perkins, who is tied for 5th in the AP in RBI with 59, went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Orlando in the contest. Earning the save was Brent Pugh. He's now cashed in 25 of 28 save opportunities. The 4th-place Rum Runners lifted their record to 46-50.
Ernesto Guerrero had a big run-scoring triple for the Rum Runners in the bottom of the third inning. With Orlando leading 4-3 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 34-year old right-handed pitcher Omar Delahoz and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rum Runners ahead, 5-3.
Orlando manager was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
