Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Launch
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Cape Canaveral Launch and Washington Monuments.
Washington wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Gabriel Beltrán, falling to the Cape Canaveral Launch, 5-3. Beltrán threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The winner was Edward Rascoe in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Brandon Holcomb took the loss. Germán Salazar collected his 10th save.
Cape Canaveral used a clutch hit from Jesús Reynad to get the win. The left fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Launch ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Cape Canaveral manager .
The Launch, at 74-23, have a comfortable 17½-game lead in their division.
