Iowa Dealt 4-3 Defeat
|
Starting pitcher Juan Gallardo pitched well enough to help the Reading Railbirds beat the Iowa Crop Circles, 4-3. Sherman Parks notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. Dax McKames earned the save for Reading, his 6th of the year.
The Railbirds got a big at-bat from designated hitter Michael Cabrera. For the game, Cabrera went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Reading a 4-2 lead.
"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Gallardo told the Reading News.
Reading improves to 59-40 with the win. They lead their division by 10 games.
