San Jose Cuervo starter Boyd Mercer pitched a strong game against the Alcatraz Island Jail Break at Welsh Field, leading the Cuervo to victory, 5-3. Iván Ruíz earned his 25th save in 26 chances. The Jail Break, now 45-53, have lost 5 in a row.

The Cuervo got a big at-bat from right fielder Jeremiah Tanner. For the game, Tanner was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 14th double of the season gave San Jose a 2-1 lead.

"We're not exactly playing great right now," said Justin Fusco, the Alcatraz Island manager.
