The Minneapolis Maulers had to overcome a good performance from Newark pitcher Josh Jones to claim a 3-2 win at Falcons Field. Jones went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Greg Douglas was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 19 save opportunities. Minneapolis, at 46-53, sits in third place in the Appalachian Northern.

Ray Calhoun came through with a big-time hit for Minneapolis. The right fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

After the game, Minneapolis manager applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
