Shirley Lifts Rum Runners to 9-8 Win
Launch Pad was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Orlando Rum Runners and Cape Canaveral Launch.

The Orlando Rum Runners defeated the Cape Canaveral Launch, 9-8, at Launch Pad. Orlando right fielder Dan Shirley had a superb performance. He went 4-6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. The win was credited to David Rowe in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Edward Rascoe took the loss. Paul Dawson was credited with the save, his 5th in 7 tries.

Orlando used a timely hit from Paul Kramer to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rum Runners ahead, 9-8. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Shirley said.

Cape Canaveral has now lost 4 straight.
