Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Mexico City Diablos got the win.
The Glacier Bay Ice Pirates could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Armando Ramos into a win. Instead, the Mexico City Diablos prevailed, 4-2. Ramos threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Bill Strachan, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4.1 innings.
Mexico City got a game-changing hit from Rusty Kuntz. The center fielder blasted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a winner.
Said Kuntz: "What's not to like about a walk-off win?"
The win for the Diablos raised their record to 56-45.
