Monuments Pull Out Late-Game Win, 7-6
|
The Washington Monuments withstood a fine game by Newark designated hitter Erwin Lawrence at Falcons Field, to upend the Falcons, 7-6. Lawrence was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The win lifted the Washington record to 56-43.
Washington needed the clutch hitting of Rodrigo Carrillo to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Monuments on top, 7-5. For the game, Carrillo had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Washington manager .
