West Island Roughed Up By Monuments

The Washington Monuments beat the West Island Storm, 12-3, at The Grand Lodge. The Monuments got a fine performance from catcher Tom Quinn, who went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Terry Pinnell, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 5-8. The second-place Monuments have won 4 consecutive games.
With Washington leading 5-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Quinn came up to bat against West Island pitcher Paul Dawson. Quinn hit a curveball to right for a 3-run home run. His 16th home run of the season put the Monuments on top, 8-0.
"I thought we competed really well," said Monuments manager . "I thought the energy was really good."
