Death Valley got a terrific performance from pitcher Fernando Hernández, but it wasn't enough to beat the Richmond Ravens. Richmond won the Battle Field contest, 4-3. Hernández threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Mike Daniel, now 6-6, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Víctor Rodríguez was credited with the save, his 26th in 29 tries.

Richmond took a 4-3 lead on Michael Reeves's 19th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Death Valley pitcher Francisco Silva in the bottom of the eighth.

"If you ever get this game figured out," said Death Valley manager Kevin Heiser, "let me know."

The win for the Ravens raised their record to 54-48.
