Thanks in large part to catcher Jon Ashe, the Iowa Crop Circles beat the Vermont Lake Monsters, 4-2. Ashe was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Luis Santiago Jr. earned the win for Iowa. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 4-8. Ted Morgan notched his 20th save of the season.
Júlio Fernández, who is tied for 8th in the FR in doubles with 29, had a direct impact on the outcome. Fernández contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put Iowa up, 2-1.
"We did enough to win," said Fernández.
With the win, Iowa pushed its record to 51-51.
