Lake Monsters Absorb 4-2 Home Loss
|
Getting an impressive start from Sam Woodward, Iowa beat Vermont by the score of 4-2. Iowa pitcher Alberto Cota got the win. He's now 3-3. Alfredo Villanueva was tagged with the loss. Getting the save was Roberto Mendoza, his 19th.
Clyde Ashe came through with a big-time hit for Iowa. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Ashe.
The win puts Iowa at 38-65.
