Maulers Thwart Railbirds, 6-4
|
The Minneapolis Maulers overcame a pretty good performance by Reading first baseman Dave Rouse, beating the Railbirds, 6-4, at MacLaren Stadium. Rouse was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jack Heygate picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Fernando Franco was tagged with the loss. With the victory, the Maulers record stands at 47-56.
In the bottom of the sixth, Minneapolis second baseman Mysterious Walker gave his team the lead. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ghost hit his 29th double of the year. Reading pitcher Fernando Franco surrendered it. With that, the Maulers jumped in front, 5-4.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Walker told the Minneapolis Gazette. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
