West Island Storm starter Jaime De La Cruz had all his pitches working at BackWet Stadium. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 8-0 West Island win over the Laredo Border Jumpers. De La Cruz, the winner, moves to 2-7. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Phil Brown earned the save, his 4th in 8 tries.

The Storm got a big hit from first baseman Francisco Olivares. In the top of the ninth, Olivares pounded a grand slam home run to right. His 32nd home run of the season put the Storm ahead, 8-0.

"We came out aggressive," said Storm manager Jeremy Mills. "We came out swinging the bats."

The win makes West Island 59-46.
