Ransom Slugs Border Jumpers to 7-2 Win
The Laredo Border Jumpers knocked off the Minneapolis Maulers, 7-2, at BackWet Stadium. Wilson Ransom was a big reason Laredo won. The third baseman belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Keith Houston earned the win for Laredo. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 11-4. The first-place Border Jumpers have won 7 straight.

The Border Jumpers got an important contribution from left fielder Harvey Turner, who in the bottom of the third punched a full count fastball into center for a 2-run home run. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Border Jumpers ahead, 3-0.

"We played hard and won," said Ransom. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
