The Orlando Rum Runners took Iowa pitcher Ted Duke's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Cornfield. The final score had Orlando getting past the Crop Circles, 4-2. Duke went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 7. Orlando reliever Bartolo Salazar picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. David Hodge absorbed the loss. Nick Sharpley earned his 22nd save in 32 chances.

Orlando took a 4-2 lead on Robin Andrews's 35th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Andrews hit in the top of the ninth, left Iowa pitcher David Hodge visibly frustrated.

"Bottom line," said Iowa skipper Andy Ward, "we didn't play well enough to win."

The win elevated the Rum Runners to 57-48.
