Riding the 2-hit performance of the 38-year old right fielder Joe Ward, the Vermont Lake Monsters stopped the Death Valley Burn, 4-2. Vermont reliever Pablo Román got the win, raising his record to 2-2. Manny Flores was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was Ernest Reese. He's now 11 for 13 in save chances.

Vermont relied on the hitting of Jim Gamble to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the second inning to put the Lake Monsters on top, 2-0. For the game, Gamble had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Credit where credit is due," said Ward, "this was a team win."
